The Chieveley Sampler

Would you like to stitch a piece of history?

Eliza Gibbons stitched a silken sampler of Chieveley Church in 1839: now you have a unique opportunity to stitch a copy of her sampler too! Mr Victor Pocock, the owner of Eliza's sampler has kindly given permission for cross stitch charts to be sold in aid of the Miriam Dean Trust.

The Chieveley sampler Description

This sampler depicts Chieveley Church as viewed by Eliza Gibbons in 1839, complete with with graveyard and rooks flying overhead. The sampler is worked in cross stitch on 40 count linen, over one and two threads of fabric, using nine different shades of floss, mainly browns and blueish greens.

    This design is not suitable for stitching on Aida.

  • Threads: DMC Six Strand Cotton in 9 shades
