THE NEW ELIZABETHAN EMBROIDERIES The Project

{Decorative Imageof Strawberry Slip} This is a professional designer-led project to recreate the splendours of the Great Chamber by refurbishing the bed and windows with new hangings and curtains; the work will be done on fine canvas slips showing traditional themes. Inspiration for many of the designs will come from the Manor itself and the beautiful gardens, but there will also be long hours spent in research to ensure the authenticity of the work.

{Decorative Image of Raspberry Slip} Phase I, to stitch one thousand slips, will be completed by a vast team of skilled embroiderers, all giving their time and talents. But even with this assistance, a project of this stature involves thousands of pounds worth of materials and threads; hundreds of hours of research and design preparation, and the rare finishing skills to create a harmonious composition from works completed on both sides of the Atlantic.

A series of one day Master Classes have already been held in various places in the United Kingdom this year, and there are more to come. Professional embroiderers tutor these classes, and, after a morning's work there is the opportunity to enjoy the unique attractions of each venue.
